Fort Bend County Judge James Adolphus and Indigent Healthcare Solutions (IHS) President Robert Baird signed contracts today authorizing the installation of IHS software. Of the ten vendors who solicited Fort Bend County’s Request For Proposal (RFP), IHS was selected on September 6th by the Fort Bend County Indigent Health Care Committee.

Fort Bend County Indigent Healthcare Director Karl Lavine told the Committee that he and his staff had been hearing about the sterling reputation of IHS since the beginning of the year. He stated, "After visiting with several long-time IHS customers and seeing a software demonstration, it was clear to me that our office would be best served by IHS."

The IHS solution for Fort Bend County will include a Fax Back™ system. This technology gives medical providers like physicians and pharmacists 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week information on client eligibility for medical care or prescriptions, according to Texas Department of Health guidelines.

IHS President Robert Baird commended the County Indigent Healthcare Committee members for "thinking outside the box.” He noted, “By choosing the IHS system, which provides secure round-the-clock eligibility information, Fort Bend County has the opportunity to ensure that all eligible patients receive the care to which they are entitled.”

IHS offers Fax Back technology exclusively to Texas indigent healthcare departments, public hospitals, and hospital districts. When providers call a dedicated telephone number, they are prompted to enter a patient’s unique identification number. The healthcare provider then immediately receives a fax from the appropriate county listing a patient’s eligibility requirements and detailing remaining benefits for the month or year.
